Lunar New Year Festival hosted by the Vietnamese Community of Central Florida
Thousands of people came out to the Central Florida Fairgrounds on January 27-29th, 2012 not to go the Flea Market, but to attend the Lunar New Year Festival hosted by the Vietnamese Community of Central Florida. This annual show is the largest of it’s kind here in Florida and this year being the Year of the Dragon it was even more extravagant than the previous years. The festival included numerous vendors selling goods ranging from authentic Vietnamese dishes, drinks, and desserts to gourmet drinks. They were also selling lots of Orchid flowers, plants, and fresh fruit. It was a bustling environment just like how it is in Vietnam.
In addition to the festivity such as the dragon dancing and fireworks the community holds two pageants every year. The pageant is to win the title of Mrs. and Miss Vietnam Florida. The newly crowned queens walked away with cash prizes, flowers, gifts, a trophy, and a sparkling tiara. This year’s winners for the Mrs. Vietnam Florida 2012 was awarded to Mrs. To Anh from Orlando, FL and Miss Vietnam Florida 2012 to Minh Nguyen from Deerfield, FL. Congratulations to them and all the rest of the contestants for putting up a great show!
